For many divers technical diving is like an icon, a myth. But why do people feel that way?<\/span>\u00a0At our\u00a0<\/span>Technical Diving School\u00a0<\/a>we offer recreational divers the possibility to try Technical Diving. Some of the most common reasons why divers tell us they don\u2019t want to try are:\u00a0\u201c<\/span>It\u2019s too dangerous for me.\u201c, followed by \u201cI<\/span>\u00a0am just a diver.\u201d to \u201c<\/span>Its too expensive!\u201d Are this\u00a0<\/span>just Technical Diving Myths\u00a0or is there some truth in it?<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n True!\u00a0<\/span>We could say: \u201cT<\/span>echnical diving is for all\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>divers that are ready to be technical divers\u201d. But this won\u2019t answer the question. There are so many different modalities in technical diving that it is hard to believe that you\u2019ll not find the one that suits you.\u00a0But we are not going to lie. Technical diving is not for everyone!<\/span>\u00a0It needs investment of time and money, commitment, acceptance of risks, special training and equipment. But, if you are willing to accept the challenge, technical diving is a fantastic adventure full of amazing experiences.<\/p>\n True(-ish)! Obviously t<\/span>here are more risks\u00a0than in recreational diving<\/span>.\u00a0But that\u2019s exactly the reason why<\/span>\u00a0there are\u00a0so many different\u00a0<\/span>technical diving courses. One does not evolve from riding a bicycle straight to driving a car without\u00a0training<\/span>.\u00a0The<\/span>\u00a0same way a recreational diver must go through a lot of training in order to\u00a0master the skills needed for tec diving<\/span>.\u00a0Even though, technical diving is more risky, w<\/span>ith the proper training and attitude, technical diving is not necessarily more dangerous than recreational diving.\u00a0Mo<\/span>re risks require<\/span>\u00a0intense\u00a0<\/span>preparation,\u00a0100% concentration,<\/span>\u00a0education<\/span>, equipment and, of course, strict s<\/span>afety procedures.<\/p>\n False!<\/span>\u00a0Depth is an important part\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>the world of technical diving, but not necessarily in focus.\u00a0<\/span>Tec\u00a0Diving<\/span>\u00a0is about exploring areas\u00a0which are kind of secret or restricted, in their own specific way, to recreational divers<\/span>.\u00a0During a tec dive you could:\u00a0Explore caves \/\/\u00a0<\/span>Experience Ice Diving \/\/\u00a0Dive into an ice cave \/\/\u00a0Use new configurations\u00a0\/\/\u00a0Become a wreck explorer \/\/\u00a0Dive deeper \/\/ Use new gas mixtures \/\/\u00a0 Extend your bottom time at shallower depths\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n As you can imagine, the possibilities of technical diving are endless and<\/span>\u00a0not every tec dive is about descending into the blue abyss!<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.9″ text_text_color=”#0db4d5″]<\/p>\n The truth is that with the proper training and attitude, technical diving is not necessarily more dangerous than recreational diving. There are more risks. That is why there is much more training.<\/strong><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.9″]<\/p>\n True!\u00a0<\/span>Let\u2019s not fool ourselves. Loading one tank on your back is heavy enough. If you load two, it is twice as heavy. If you need 6 for a dive\u2026make your calculations!\u00a0<\/span>The truth is that\u00a0sidemount<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is starting to play an important role in the world of technical diving because it allows us,\u00a0depending on the situation<\/span>, to gear up directly inside the<\/span>\u00a0water. In turn, Rebreathers are\u00a0becoming\u00a0<\/span>smaller and smaller. But, let\u2019s stop making up excuses. The equipment is heavy. And one of the commitments of a technical diver is to keep him\/herself fit enough to handle the weight of the\u00a0gear<\/span>. We don\u2019t mean you need to be a gym addict, but there is a minimum\u00a0of fitness<\/span>\u00a0required.<\/p>\n False!\u00a0<\/span>Technical diving is not exclusive to a few\u00a0bunch of divers<\/span>\u00a0with a very high level of diving.\u00a0There isn\u2019t any requirement like you would need to be a \u201cpro\u201d underwater<\/span>\u00a0to start technical diving, but rather\u00a0it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0an inevitable consequence. Tec\u00a0Diving<\/span>\u00a0will make you improve drastically as a diver (read\u00a010 reasons why you should start technical diving<\/a><\/span>). The more technical dives you perform, t<\/span>he more experience you acquire, the better\u00a0your skill level will be.<\/span><\/p>\n True(-ish)!\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s\u00a0not exactly that tec diving is more expensive, it just\u00a0<\/span>requires more\u00a0of everything. This leads to a higher\u00a0<\/span>investment.\u00a0Let\u2019s have a look<\/span>: You pay more,\u00a0<\/span>but\u00a0in turn the outcome is much higher.\u00a0<\/span>A\u00a0technical diving course<\/a><\/span>\u00a0can last 15 days and, obviously, it is more expensive than an open water course that lasts 4 days. But, if you look at the\u00a0average costs<\/span>, the\u00a0price per day for\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0technical diving course<\/a><\/span>\u00a0may be\u00a0even<\/span>\u00a0lower than\u00a0what you have paid for your<\/span>\u00a0open water course.<\/p>\n The same\u00a0counts\u00a0<\/span>for the gear\u00a0or the time underwater<\/span>.\u00a0Sure, if you are required to have more gear, your bill will go higher. But also, instead of spending only\u00a0<\/span>45\u00a0minutes<\/span>\u00a0underwater, like during an average recreational dive, while technical diving you might<\/span>\u00a0be\u00a0down in the beautiful blue for hours<\/span>!<\/span><\/p>\n Being clear and honest: Yes,\u00a0<\/span>it costs more money!<\/span>\u00a0Ye<\/span>s, you\u00a0will spend<\/span>\u00a0more!\u00a0<\/span>But\u00a0the most important: YES, what you receive in the end of the day might be a priceless and unforgettable adventure!<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.9″ text_text_color=”#0db4d5″]<\/p>\n The equipment is heavy. Technical divers enjoy a recreational dive in a shallow reef as much as any other diver. It is not about having to choose between one and the other. It is about having the possibility to choose between the two of them.\u00a0<\/span>Technical diving isn\u2019t a religion to which you should devote the rest of your\u00a0life<\/span>. It is not different from diving . The limit, the amount of time spent, the when, the where and the how,\u00a0the decision is up to you.<\/span><\/p>\n Remember\u00a0<\/span>one thing:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We\u00a0<\/span>technical divers stand the weight of the gear, we accept that there are more risks, it costs us more money, we have to be in shape\u00a0etc\u2026<\/span>but still, every day more and more divers take the\u00a0plunch\u00a0<\/span>and start<\/span>Technical\u00a0<\/span>D<\/span><\/span>iving<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0There<\/span>\u00a0must be something\u00a0about<\/span>\u00a0tec diving that\u00a0is worth the extra<\/span>\u00a0effort.\u00a0It seems simple, tec diving\u00a0<\/span>awakens the same sensation\u00a0and excitement<\/span>\u00a0that we felt when we started\u00a0recreational\u00a0<\/span>diving\u00a0in the first place<\/span>. It offers us the ability to explore the beauty of the underwater wonders. To go beyond the limits. To see with our own eyes what until today we could only see with our imagination.
